A Brexit update from Adelphi
November 2, 2020
Brexit Update from Adelphi: To all our valued customers, we would like to make you aware that we are keeping a close eye on the latest updates about Brexit, to proactively ensure that we minimise disruption for our customers in the months and years to come.
Brexit, short for “British Exit,” refers to the United Kingdom’s (UK) decision to leave the European Union (EU), a process that culminated in the formal departure on January 31, 2020. This complex and multifaceted event had profound technical implications across various domains, including trade, regulations, and governance. The withdrawal involved extensive negotiations to define the future relationship between the UK and the EU, encompassing trade agreements, customs arrangements, and border controls. One of the pivotal technical aspects is the establishment of the Northern Ireland Protocol, designed to address the unique situation of the Irish border. The transition also necessitated changes in domestic legislation, customs procedures, and regulatory frameworks to adapt to the UK’s newfound status as a non-member state. The technical intricacies of Brexit extend to financial services, data protection, and standards compliance, requiring meticulous planning and adaptation for businesses, regulatory bodies, and governmental entities alike.
